Have you tried Office.com? It's a microsoft product but it's free, you only need to create a live account to use it. :o)
I'll check it out! :)
By a live account - do you mean a google account or just an account with the site? (Fear me, I work in IT and I'm sure this is a basic thing to know!)
Live is Hotmail rebranded. It gives you sky drive access (5gb I think) which is cloud based and an email. I've been using it for a while and I really like it :-).
Ah - okay. I'll take a look - there was another suggestion down below that I'll check out cause I don't need another email to keep track of... hee! I think I've got like 15 different gmail accounts because I can never remember what they are when I need to sign up for one for something new.
Oooooh... you actually need a Microsoft account which I have because I have Windows 8 at home. I just signed in with that and it worked.
ETA: Except - if I click New Document - it just doesn't do anything. Rarr. >:/ Probably because we have an older ie at work. Might be useful for home use though I suppose if it works.

I'll check it out, thank u! I can probably still use google docs for sharing if I'm just pasting big chunks of writing into it for my beta to review and am not having to write in it directly so the freezing issue isn't so hard to deal with.
Welp - thinkfree is blocked at work so it has the same problem as DW for me unfortunately. :(
evernote seems pretty good. I've got it loaded on my Nexus tablet, laptop and phone so i can work on my stuff anywhere.
It would definitely be a good option for home - however since I write mostly in DW I can access anywhere too. :) I wouldn't be able to load it on my work computer unfortunately.

I havent logged in on my laptop in a while, but if I remember correctly, it's not an app for PC, you log into the site.
Oh cool, I'll check it out. Someone else had recommended but had said it was an app.
Would dropbox.com work? I use that for sharing files with a colleague. You just have to have an account on that website, and you can download it sync it to files on your computer/devices, and you can share files with anyone else who has a dropbox account. Not sure how much space it gives you, it's free but only up to a certain amount of space--but there are things you can do to get more free space without having to buy an advanced account.
I think that's a good option for sharing.
Got it! I will check it out thank you!
