Lovely, these little moments that are so simple on the surface but say so much. And the perfect second hug! I just can't get enough of the hugs.
You can feel the uncertainty, the tentativeness and then there is the hug. Ahh, that feels right.
They must have missed each other hard. If it didn't hit them now, it would eventually at awkward times. Like this. Thanks for the cool what-ifs. Oh, these boys.
Baby, I heart you so much right now.
It's the little stuff that gets us more than the big things, and this is a great illustration of that, beautifully written and achy. Thank you for posting it.
This was fantastic - as always. Great little snippets. I particularly love the first one, with the shadows staring one another down.
Oh boys, this season is going to hurt a lot!
Love the shadows! If the show doesn't actually do that, they're missing some amazing visuals. You should send Kripke a memo.
"Now you're not really sure about either of us, are you?" Dean asks without acknowledging Bobby's gaze.
In many ways this is the saddest line in a sweetly melancholy fic.

I completely agree -- the thought that Bobby doesn't completely trust them is so sad!
Great fic -- you really captured the distance, the hesitancy you felt watching the show. The brothers were so happy/relieved maybe? to see each other -- but their future exchanges were stilted. Actually the only time they were natural was around Pamela - the ease was back as they bantered about her. Other than that -- everything was awkward.
lovely little moments. :)
aww! absolutely lovely! :D

and the sword and the sickle...
oh my...
beautiful writing, and painful...
Nicely done. I like that there's so much tension right now as everyone tries to figure out where they fit with each other, and whether things -- people -- have changed in damaging ways.
Man, this was good stuff. The scene with Bobby - and then that hug at the end - those two just destroyed me. Beautiful.
the bit with the shadows is creepy. and i really like how awkward they are around each other - or at least how awkward dean is - and how things that should feel right are just a little bit off.
What powerful little glimpses of post-Hell boys you've given us here! Each of them gorgeous and loaded with richness and depth, despite still being just fleeting moments. Lovely!
Yup. Works for me. *adores*
Oh, Dean. And...the shadows, and Bobby, and hugging.... *sniffle*
:)
Things that stood out: the shadows with sword and sickle and how Bobby is unsure of both now. So well done.
*hugs self, smiles, and chokes up*
Show doesn't really have time to show us little moments like these. Thanks very much for filling in the gaps with such care, detail, and reality.
LOVE! This is wonderful. The hug just kills me, but I also love the interplay between Dean and the bodmod girl.
Oh my, the sword and the sickle. Portentous.
And the ambush hug--makes the tears prickle, just a bit. It's the small things that do ambush us, just when we think we've got our equilibrium back.
oh so good! YOU are so good!
The shadows, the shower talk and the hug. Oh the hug! *clutches heart* Oh boys!
Thank you!
Nice use of details here. I especially like the shower scene, both because we've actually seen attempts at shower conversations in canon and because it's a nice touch. Plus, Dean in a shower. ::Stares into space and drools::
Oh, boys. So incredibly sad... but lovely.
Awww! So sweet. Lovely! :)
"Now you're not really sure about either of us, are you?" Dean asks without acknowledging Bobby's gaze.
Bobby stops staring and it isn't the relief Dean wishes it would be.
You just broke my heart.
*whimpers*
A perfect collection of scenes, truly lovely from start to finish. I really enjoyed the balance of angst and humor throughout.
He'll yell above the pounding spray about the latest case or his new sneakers or some flower he stopped to smell.
Loved that line! *lol*
...but Dean is too busy pressing his forehead into Sam's shoulder and trying not to cry.
This was an absolutely beautiful but heartbreaking moment. Oh, Dean ...
Sam always, always seems to find pressing things to talk to Dean about when he's in the shower.
Oh Sammy. And Dean calling out to check on him when Sam doesn't do this, and the hug. Boys!
Hi! I just wanted to let you know that you've been recced over here at spn_themes. Yay! :)
This was gorgeous. I loved the looks at little moments, and I think you've done a great job of capturing Dean and Sam.
This is a great addition to the 4.01 codas. So thanks for sharing it.
Loved this line: "Dunno," Dean says. "Somewhere between hell and back I guess."
That is just too damn clever. *g*
Also loved the "Sam always finds something to talk to Dean about in the shower" segment. Very imaginative, and fits in well with the characters, as we've come to know them in the show.
He'll yell above the pounding spray about -- some flower he stopped to smell
LOL that's a good one :D
And Dean trying not to cry makes me want to cry.
Absolutely perfect. Just what the dr. ordered. Thank you!!

"Now you're not really sure about either of us, are you?" This is achingly perfect for them. I loved the whole piece. Excellent job, as always.
Aaaaawwwwww! I love the end bit.
"Now you're not really sure about either of us, are you?" Dean asks without acknowledging Bobby's gaze.
Most heartbreaking line ever.
awwwww is the best thing ever |
