It's a normal day like any other, and Sam Carter is halfway through her notes for their latest mission when she writes the date for the twentieth time and actually notices the date.
Then it stops being a normal day, and she sits there, staring at her blinking cursor and wondering if Landry would accept an unfinished report. Because she really doesn't want to finish it. Instead, she wants to sit in a corner and call Cassie and talk for ten hours about nothing (maybe about boys and clothes and school. Things Sam is certain normal kids are supposed to crave.).
Or ride her bike. She could ride her bike, helmet off and let the wind take the tears from her eyes.
Not that she's crying, or planning to.
It's just a thought.
Her thoughts are interrupted by Vala, bouncing in and smiling cheerfully and talking a mile a minute about something Sam isn't paying attention to.
"Vala--" she tries to interrupt.
"No, the best part--" walking closer to Sam, Vala suddenly pounces, arms going around her and head settling against Sam's shoulder. Her mouth closes, and the silence is a little strange.
Not uncomfortable, just a little strange, and Sam finds her arm sliding around Vala, holding her back. "Um. Vala."
A sigh escapes Vala and she releases Sam, but doesn't step away. "Teal'c sent me. He says I was being far too loud and that you needed a hug." Vala's arms go around Sam again.
"Um. That was nice. Of Teal'c. And you. I think?" Sam isn't sure what to make of it, really. But Vala gives good hugs.
A smile breaks out on Vala's lips as she steps back. "And now I've done that, are you finished with that boring report? Because I think it's lunchtime and you should have some. They even have chocolate pudding today."
"Vala," Sam says, pretending there aren't things which might be tears in her eyes, "The last time there was chocolate pudding, you started a food fight."
"Well, that's because Major Forney was really quite insulting." defends Vala, hands on her hips.
Reaching out, Sam hits save on her report, then nods. "Let's get lunch." And maybe she'd stop and see Teal'c, on her way back to her lab. That report does need to get finished, and she's pretty sure Landry wouldn't let her go just because it's been three years now.
Awwww... *sniffles* This was lovely honey!

HUGS FOR THE WIN!
"Dean, come on man. Your not thinking straight!"
Sam reasoned as he placed one of the two motel-issued chairs infront of himself, and walked backwards, running into the table.
"I mean, your reaallyy going to feel like an idiot later man, not to mention you're probably going to kick my ass under the circumstances..."
He mumbled the last bit to himself as he shuffled quickly to the left and jumped over his bed, his back to the night stand as Dean approached from the front.
"Come on Sammy..." Dean practically cooed, sending uneasy shivers down Sam's spine and racing through his limbs.
"Shit. Man. I'm just gonna-" Sam jumped right, over Dean's bed and sped towards the door.
Grasping the chromes knob Sam was suddenly sent sprawling as pounds of Big Brother tackled him from behind and the floor rushed up to hit him harshly in the face. The cheap shagged rug immediatly leaving a tingled burn on his cheek and arms.
"Damn it Dean!! Get off!" Sam shouted and began buckling under Dean's weight.
A noise somewhat a keen to a soft rumble emitted from Dean, and he relaxed enough so Sam hopped a little against the ground and he sent his arms to entertwine his younger brother.
"UGH!" Sam groaned in frustration as he finally relaxed and began to slightly hit his head against the rug in anger against this whole damn situation.
Sam could feel Dean's smile against his back.
"Dean...Dean! Let me at least get up while you fucking smother me you ass!" Sam pleaded slightly, becoming instantly uncomfortable in many ways, from being underneath his brother.
Suddenly Sam was sent upwards and clockwise as Dean rolled over and now Sam laid side by side against his brother, while said brother latched his arms around Sam's torso and squeezed tightly.
"...if I wasn't so uncomfortable with you hugging me Dean, I swear... there would be pictures of you hugging every single fucking thing around you. I would shove you into the bathroom until you fucking spooned the GOD DAMN TOILET!"
Sam screeched as he tried to shuffle away from his octupus of a brother.
Suddenly the locking around his lungs dissapeared and Sam was shoved harshly half-way under the bed as Dean suddenly bolted from the floor.
"Dean?" Sam's voice called out, muffled by the fallen comforter over his head.
"...Sam..." Dean said in a shaky tone.
"I swear to God Dean, you have got to stop flirting with every thing that BREATHES. I'm sick of you getting cursed every other month! Hell! You as a car I could deal with... turning into a girl? FINE! But the ones where they involve you and your "unresolved feelings of 'really' needing a hug for stability?" Sure... NOT FOR 24 HOURS!!!"
Sam yelled as he darted across the room, passed a stunned Winchester and slammed the motel room behind him.
Dean rubbed his arms and sat on the dishevled bed.
"Yeah, but it's usually worth it to see you get frazzled Sammy-boy." he laughed to the empty room.
I don't even know what I just wrote....

Re: Only a curse could...
*snort* that was hilarious. oh if only all the things the boys faced could be like this!
oh do you have the story of what happened when dean turned into a girl? i bet sammy says that everytime. at the end of the girl thing he probably said, "you as a car i could deal with but this?! is the limit dean" only then dean got cursed even worse and he had to revise his statement.
and ooh i read it again and was it just dean screwing with sammys head this time? forcing him to withstand a dreadful hug *giggle*
i read your idea and this came out. um, sorry?
John has never been good at this, this comfort thing.
It was one of the (many) things that his ex-wife hated about him. In his head he always felt like he didn’t say the right thing and he never had any idea what he could possibly. Personally he thought it was a good thing that all his closest friends are guys. Guys didn’t need much by way of comfort; it was never much more a pat on the back (Rodney) or a knock-down drag-out fight in the gym (Ronan).
But Teyla…. Teyla was unlike any other friend he had ever had. She was thoughtful, always considerate and supportive of those who needed it, most often Elizabeth in her times of crisis but often him too, when he felt lost under the strain of command and leadership.
She was delicacy overlaid on steel. Yes, steel because above all else Teyla was strong, after years of fearing and then fighting the wraith, of protecting her people. In the last four years he had neve seen her crack, never seen her falter. He had seen her placid, he had seen her angry, he had seen her disappointed and best of all he had seen her laughing. But he had never, ever, seen her cry. It was that which broke him. Someone, a friend, was dead again so soon, and again it was all his fault. He didn’t want to see any one else till he had worked that through and he didn’t think they wanted to see him either, why would they?
But then the chime rang out and the door opened and there was Teyla with tears running down her face. And when she moved into his arms, he did what felt right. He let her cling to him, let her pour out her sorrow against his body, and, after a moment of hesitation, he held her as close as he could. He would be her steel this time, her support when she had no other, and he hoped that that, or him, would give her some small measure…. of comfort.
Heya, I wrote two, so I chucked them in a post. :)

I surfed through your website looking for a fic I've read and I think it might be one of yours. Anyway, I came across this story http://kellifer.keverynn.net/sga/prodding.html and it seems you forgot to add the paragraph tags < p > in the HTML code. If I view source it's perfectly readable, but I thought I'd tell you incase you wanted to fix it :-)
